10th Anniversary Celebration 2001 - 2011

The American Institute for Managing Diversity, Inc (AIMD) is pleased to announce the graduation of the 2011 10th Anniversary Diversity Leadership Academy Atlanta class.

The Diversity Leadership Academy Atlanta 2011 graduation class brings the total number of Atlanta graduate leaders to over 300 alumni locally and over 1200 nationally. First launched in Atlanta in 2001 with the support of The Coca Cola Company, the Diversity Leadership Academy (DLA) is the flagship program of the AIMD. During the 25 plus years I have been active in the diversity arena, many have asked, “How can we achieve a society with communities and organizations that move beyond race?” Shirley Sherrod’s story provides a case study of how one person got over her racial animosities and developed a capability to serve non-discriminately with respect to race. Titled Senate Bill 1070 or "SB 1070," the legislation gave state law enforcement agencies the power to question the legality of any person's presence in the United States, provided that the individual has already been lawfully stopped and is suspected of being an illegal alien.
